Sony has patented a new motor-powered, balance-steered skateboard, possibly to compete with the Segway Human Transporter, which they claim will be easy and comfortable to ride.

Featuring two large wheels, one at either side of a flat stand, powered by a separate electric motor, the new skateboard comes with four pressure sensors, one at each corner of the platform, for indicating the balance of the rider, as if rider stands straight in the center of the board, each sensor indicates the same reading.

If you want to move the board fast, just bend slightly forward and the front sensors automatically start both motors running forward at the same speed. And, for slowing the momentum down, all you need to do is bend backwards, whilst bending to one side pushes one wheel faster to guide round a curve.
Modified boards with three or four wheels, for more stability, will also be presented for beginners. No words on pricing and availability.

Winter games are already the most adventurous and the most dangerous games of all. But still designers are unveiling more gear that will make these games even more dangerous.

A Skateslider is nothing more than a ski and a inline skates combination. The small skis get easily connected to the skates when you remove the wheels.

You can easily learn how to use them if you have a bit of experience in inline skating. Other good feature is that you can easily transport them as they are smaller in size.

The only problem I see in the kit is that the traditional skis are larger in size so that your weight is equally distributed over a larger surface area. Since these skates are smaller I think it will not be a good choice for deep snow skiing.

The kit is bearing a price tag of about $70.

Not all the people have the courage to dream and work hard to shape their dream to reality. Peter Robbins is amongst those who has actually worked for years to make a masterpiece he once dreamt. He has designed a jetmarine similar to that used by Tom swift in his story for an adventures ride.

Peter has designed and tested his submarine for depth up to 410 meters. This submarine extends a cheap and useful alternative to promote interest in common people to explore deep waters. Alicia is a self-supporting submarine with a built in diesel engine.

After continued delays the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) has finally given a green light to the islands first high speed rail link that will be powered by ‘The Bullet Train’.

The line will link the city of Kaohsiung and Panchiao and will also mark the first export of Japan’s famous ‘Bullet Train‘.

The system will run for a couple of months on a trial version after that it will be in full operation. The only difference between the trial and the full operation will be the price of the tickets. Initially in the trial operation the commuters will get a special discount that will be removed after the train begins the full operation.

The Bullet train can reach speeds of up to 300Kmph and will take just 90 minutes for the trip between the two stations and will carry more than 100 million passengers annually.

THSRC has initially hoped to start the operations of the train by October 31, 2005 but it was continuously delayed due to some safety concerns. THSRC has also commented that the delay has could cost them more than $590 Million.

Weird looking gadgets are the ask of the day as everyone wants to sit out of the common crowd with some weird looking gadgets.

But this one is the most weird looking mountain bike retrofit that will not get out of my mind for a couple of days.

Ktrak is a universal tracked rear drive kit that will turn your mountain bike into an all terrain machine. The design will enable you to ride your bike at all possibly unridable surfaces such as sand or snow.

The tank based rear wheels will give you the traction and the friction to ride on snow and sand.

The additional accessories will cost you at $400 for the tank look and an additional $140 dollars for the ski.

The production run is commencing in early 2007 but you can preorder before 2007 at the company’s web site.

JR Central and JR West are jointly working on to design a high-speed train known as N 700. The train once developed will have a maximum speed of 300 km/h and will be used to run on the Tōkaidō and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. The train will inherit a number of technologies, which makes it far better than the exiting models.

The train will employ a body inclination system that will help it to tilt up to one degree and maintain a speed of 270km/h even on 2,500 m radius curves. It will also feature modernized controls and communication system, perfectly engineered body design to best utilize the space and superior aerodynamic performance. The train will be safe, as it will rely on high-performance semi-active suspension to de-accelerate.

The Stowboard is a wild innovation - it’s something like a skateboard that folds up into a compact little unit that can be fit easily into a backpack. The board is as long as a regular skateboard. You can ride the device smoothly maintaining a perfect balance.

You will have to follow some simple steps to unfold this handy device.

Step 1: Lift the tail/rear assembly in a clockwise motion.

Step 2: Lift the front wheel assembly in a counter-clockwise direction.

Step3:
Continue opening the front wheel assembly until the cable connecter pin stays on top of the main deck. Secure the deck by locking the cable connecter pin into its slot.

Step 4: Rotate the tail/rear assembly counterclockwise until it locks into place. And the device is now ready to ride.

It is truly the Top Gun executives’ jet. Maverick Solo Jet defines the second generation of personal jets. This $1.25 million tin machine will let you fly with a speed of 543mph at a 472-knot clip. The jet features an immense climb rate of 8000 foot-per-minute and can accommodate five persons comfortably.

I think the machine is perfect for a thrilling ride with your family to make your weekend more adventurous.
