After continued delays the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) has finally given a green light to the islands first high speed rail link that will be powered by ‘The Bullet Train’. The line will link the city of Kaohsiung and Panchiao and will also mark the first export of Japan’s famous ‘Bullet Train’. The system will run for a couple of months on a trial version after that it will be in full operation. The only difference between the trial and the full operation will be the price of the tickets. Initially in the trial operation the commuters will get a special discount that will be removed after the train begins the full operation. The Bullet train can reach speeds of up to 300Kmph and will take just 90 minutes for the trip between the two stations and will carry more than 100 million passengers annually. THSRC has initially hoped to start the operations of the train by October 31, 2005 but it was continuously delayed due to some safety concerns. THSRC has also commented that the delay has could cost them more than $590 Million. But for now the residents of Taiwan can enjoy ride at an Express pace on the ‘Bullet Train’. Peter Robbins is amongst those who has actually worked for years to make a masterpiece he once dreamt. He has designed a jetmarine similar to that used by Tom swift in his story for an adventures ride. Peter has designed and tested his submarine for depth up to 410 meters. This submarine extends a cheap and useful alternative to promote interest in common people to explore deep waters. Alicia is a self-supporting submarine with a built in diesel engine.

Winter games are already the most adventurous and the most dangerous games of all. But still designers are unveiling more gear that will make these games even more dangerous. A Skateslider is nothing more than a ski and a inline skates combination. The small skis get easily connected to the skates when you remove the wheels. You can easily learn how to use them if you have a bit of experience in inline skating. Other good feature is that you can easily transport them as they are smaller in size. The only problem I see in the kit is that the traditional skis are larger in size so that your weight is equally distributed over a larger surface area. Since these skates are smaller I think it will not be a good choice for deep snow skiing. The kit is bearing a price tag of about $70. Via: ohgizmo

Sony has patented a new motor-powered, balance-steered skateboard, possibly to compete with the Segway Human Transporter, which they claim will be easy and comfortable to ride. Featuring two large wheels, one at either side of a flat stand, powered by a separate electric motor, the new skateboard comes with four pressure sensors, one at each corner of the platform, for indicating the balance of the rider, as if rider stands straight in the center of the board, each sensor indicates the same reading. If you want to move the board fast, just bend slightly forward and the front sensors automatically start both motors running forward at the same speed. And, for slowing the momentum down, all you need to do is bend backwards, whilst bending to one side pushes one wheel faster to guide round a curve. Modified boards with three or four wheels, for more stability, will also be presented for beginners. No words on pricing and availability. Via: newscientisttech

What you all are quite familiar with are vehicles like snowmobile that provide enough traction so that you don’t slip over. Now here is the ultimate. The machine pictured above is called the Hyanide and has been designed by some German designers for the 2006 Michelin Challenge Design. The machine has been designed to run on flexible rubber tread that covers the entire underside of the machine. The tank like tread consists of 77 segments that are made of hard plastic and covered with tire rubber. The entire system is held together by Kevlar rope. This setup provides the traction and also help it corner like no other vehicle. To steer the monster you not only have to use your hands but also the feet. You have to wear specially designed footwear that can snap onto the pedals like a super bike. The designers have no plans to release this to the public but considering the response these designers are getting from the auto makers we can well see it some time in future so keep your fingers crossed. On the engine side you will find a 60hp, 500cc liquid-cooled engine that can make the machine reach speeds up to 85mph. Via: popsci

For all those people who are James Bond movie freaks, this is a great scooter to watch out for. Having looks of a real under water torpedo it boasts of amazing speeds and that too at a touch of a button. This one is as intriguing as a feeling to have your own water scooter. So if you want to have the real feel of a James Bond movie stunts, this one is for you folks. The people who are in SCUBA diving don’t see a better option than this one. Its unique perspective system enables the diver to float to the surface at the time of sudden seizure. The buoyancy chamber it incorporates helps the diver to manipulate its weight even during the time of drowning. It gets charged overnight and thus can bestow you with approximately two hours of diving ecstasy. I am definitely having it for sure and with that I am off to the Great Barrier Reef… Via: newlaunches

If you like Poker and messing around on your iPad/iPhone and have quick thumbs then Poker Drop could be the next game for you!

Made by Granville Games for iOS compatible devices, Make poker hands on Poker Drop and then slam them into an old skool Tetris like format, see pics below:

The aim of the game is to arrange five cards into a hand both horizontally and/or vertically with ten levels getting harder and faster to keep you on your toes.

Score you hands based on the difficulty setting, you can even super-charge a score by using multipliers for speed cascades and combos made.

You’ll pick Poker Drop up quite quickly with a little practice, but it will take a little longer to master all ten levels that are in front of you.

Making a flush and two-pair is something that you’ll notice that’s quite easy to do. That said if you really want to play this game well then you’re going to need to go for the high value hands to get ahead, and that’s when things start to heat up.

Manage the board well dealing with all the randomness of the cards pouring from the deck, and setting up the big scores just like in real poker and you can be a winner.

Overall a great little game, get Poker Drop from the iTunes App store for the affordable price of $1.99
